Unarmed Patterns

The Chang-Hong (Blue Cottage) Patterns

As an International Taekwon-Do Federation club, our teaching is centered on the 24* patterns that comprise the Chang-Hong series of patterns.

Chang-Hong means 'Blue Cottage', it is the pseudonym General Choi, the founder of Taekwon-Do, originally published under.

The 24* patterns together symbolise the 24 hours in a day, which can represent the length of a human life in comparison to human history. Each pattern individual draws its name from a concept, historical event or historical figure which is important to the culture and history of Korea, linking the art to its birthplace.

'Here I leave Taekwon-Do for mankind as a trace of man of the late 20th century. The 24 patterns represent 24 hours, one day, or all my life' General Coi Hon-Hi
